We Honor Our Own

In this month’s edition of ICG Magazine we will reveal to you the members of the International Cinematographers Guild, those of your brothers and sisters who will be honored this September at the International Cinematographers Guild’s Emerging Cinematographer Awards.

Each year a panel of Local 600 members reviews submissions from other Local 600 members who are not yet classified as Cinematographers, but have shot short films. This year there were over seventy entries. All of them had many wonderful qualities, but our Blue Ribbon Panel tirelessly culled this list down to the best of the best.

We will present to you those seven of your brothers and sisters whose work demonstrates that they are ready to step up into the spotlight, and shoot the episodic television, feature films, music videos, and television commercials that are the mainstay of our workforce.

This is one of the most important functions of this guild: to promote and encourage our up-and-coming members. Even as we honor and revere those whose large body of work in the past makes them icons of cinematography, and as we work around the clock to maintain and improve the conditions we work under, we must also never forget to nurture and nourish those who will replace us all.

It is the natural order, the circle of life. These members are the future of this guild. Please join me in honoring them.

Fraternally,
